24K Nuggets Hold Off Waui Suns 127-120
Waui scored 37 in the first quarter at Pre-Roll Pavilion, but 24K won the second and third to take the first meeting of the season in a Presidential Cup group game.
The Waui Suns had the hot start. The 24K Nuggets had the better middle, and that decided it.
Waui opened with 37 points at Pre-Roll Pavilion and led 37-32 after one. 24K took over from there, winning the second quarter 39-30 for a 71-67 halftime edge and the third 32-26 to stretch it to 103-93.
Waui made one more run, winning the fourth 27-24, but never got the lead back. Final: 24K 127-120.
The West Group A win is the second straight for 24K, now 3-2 and fourth in the Northwest Division. In the first meeting between the teams, 24K takes a 1-0 lead in the season series.
Two straight defeats leave Waui at 1-3, good for third in the Pacific Division.
Both teams are back Monday. 24K hosts the Blue Dream Blazers, and Waui heads to the XXX Warriors.
